SCF was awarded the EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant – Living Heritage Company) label in 2012 for its rare and exceptional expertise.
The EPV label is a mark of recognition from the French State. It distinguishes French companies with outstanding artisanal and industrial know-how. By holding this label, companies commit to preserving and passing on rare and exceptional skills. Awarded for a five-year period, this label brings together manufacturers dedicated to the high performance of their trade and products. You can find more information on the INMA (Institut National des Métiers d’Art) website.
We host our discovery workshops at the Atelier de Tressage (Braiding Workshop) using three 19th-century wooden braiding machines. A flat braid machine, a 3-strand machine, and a round cord machine. Alongside our experienced trainers, you will discover our expertise, from winding the bobbins to manufacturing the final product.

As such, the EPV label recognizes the rare and exceptional know-how of SCF’s 50 employees and their mastery of 2,000 machines—including 1,107 wooden braiding machines, 71 mechanical bobbin lace machines, high-speed braiders, weaving looms, and finishing tools.
For 50 years, the values of excellence combining tradition and modernity have guided our company.

The EPV label is a state-awarded distinction under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, granted by regional prefects. In 2019, the state entrusted the management of the label to INMA.
How to Apply?
To be eligible, your company must be registered with the Chamber of Trades and Crafts (Répertoire des Métiers) and/or the Registry of Commerce. Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by INMA. The final certification decision is then issued by the regional prefect.
France Terre Textile®
SCF and, by extension, the Atelier de Tressage were certified France Terre Textile® in 2024.
France Terre Textile® is the only label that proves and guarantees to consumers that the items they purchase are authentically made in France, according to traditional principles: quality, traceability, authenticity, creativity, and safety.
France Terre Textile® guarantees that more than 75% of the production operations are carried out in France. It serves as a benchmark for conscious consumers who want to sustain the jobs of the people passionately preserving ancestral know-how.
At the Atelier de Tressage, all products displayed in the haberdashery shop are manufactured in our parent factory in Beaupréau-en-Mauges, in the Maine-et-Loire department. Consequently, 100% of Société Choletaise de Fabrication (SCF) products are made in France.
Furthermore, during its development processes, SCF favors French raw materials such as linen and hemp, as well as organic and eco-responsible materials.
SCF represents over 50 years of know-how, preserved and passed down from generation to generation in the Cholet region. SCF is the first company in the Cholet area to be certified France Terre Textile.
