Atelier de Tressage warmly welcomes you to the historic Marais district to introduce you to the fascinating art of Japanese tressage practiced on ancestral wooden looms called marudai.

To ensure an intimate and cozy creative experience, our hands-on workshops take place at the charming shop Les petits pots d’Alice just a few steps away from our main production workshop.

These immersive training sessions are thoughtfully designed to help you discover Kumihimo braiding the unique mechanics of Kumihimo braiding while learning how to master the rhythm of traditional looms. Our primary mission is to pass on and share this rare and exceptional certified craftsmanship with textile enthusiasts.

Workshop during this training?

This workshop is done in French but could be translated in English.

During the experience, you will select your favorite palette from our high-quality eco-friendly threads made of natural linen, organic cotton, recycled polyester, or wool. You will then learn to prepare your own bobbins and share a relaxing moment of connection with us before leaving with your own beautiful handmade creation as a lasting souvenir of your journey.

Advice

We recommend wearing simple, comfortable clothing suitable for sitting. The Kumihimo technique is practiced sitting on a 20 cm high stool with the marudai placed in front of you.
